Michelle MacLaren Will Helm the Solo Wonder Woman Film

A couple weeks ago reports started hitting that Michelle MacLaren (who’s directed episodes of both Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones) was the frontrunner to helm the upcoming Wonder Woman film for Warner Bros.  She was top among a list of other female directors, and reportedly went back and forth with the studios, but now, THR has reported that she’s signed on the line and set to helm the film and help write the script:

According to insiders, MacLaren will work with the project’s writers, which remain unnamed at this stage, to lasso together a script for the movie, which would star Gal Gadot.

Zack Snyder is also producing the film, further cementing the idea that Snyder has become the primary controller behind the DC cinematic universe, and will continue to be heavily involved in many of the DC films going forward.  I’m curious as to why the screenwriting team hasn’t been revealed.  Seems odd that they’d keep that on the down low right now, but whatever, we have a director and that’s pretty exciting.

So on top of Dawn of Justice landing in 2016, Suicide Squad is coming in 2016 as well from David Ayer, and now Wonder Woman has a director.  So all in all, things are finally falling into place for the DC slate of films.  What do you guys think about this choice in directors for Wonder Woman?
