Second Star Wars Anthology Film to Explore the Origins of Boba Fett

Technically speaking, this information is all rumor for now, as nothing official about the 2018 Star Wars Anthology movie is currently known.  However, it meshes up with previous rumors and things we’ve been hearing as well, plus it’s coming from the trade The Wrap…so that’s about as official as it gets.  According to them, the next standalone movie will center on the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett, who’s been rumored to have his own spin-off movie since before even Disney bought up Lucasfilm:

The next “Star Wars” anthology movie due in 2018 that recently lost director Josh Trank will be a Boba Fett origin story, confirming one of many rumors that have appeared online in the last several months, TheWrap has learned.

A representative for Disney had no comment.

Boba Fett is a Mandalorian warrior who was trained by his father-figure Jango Fett and became a notorious bounty hunter throughout the galaxy. His travels led him to work for the Empire, collaborate with Darth Vader and take assignments from figures such as Jabba the Hutt, for whom he once captured Han Solo.

Frankly…I’m not all that excited about a Boba Fett movie.  While he’s cool and all, I’d much rather the Anthology films continue to focus on new characters and ideas within the Star Wars galaxy and do something entirely different.  I’m also curious as to this “origin story” and how it will take shape.  My bet is it will be something along the lines of how he gets to be known as one of the best bounty hunters EVER, or when he finally decides to don his father’s armor.

What do you guys think?  Are you ready for Fett to get his own spotlight?
