The Hunt for Young Han Solo Narrows Down, Possible Rogue One Cameo

Disney/Lucasfilm isn’t wasting any time in getting back to work in the New Year.  Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s untitled Star Wars spin-off, which will focus on a young Han Solo adventure, is currently searching far and wide for the actor to take on the iconic role.  It’s a tough spot to fill, and I don’t envy them the task.  We knew they had already started the casting process, but today, a report from Variety is claiming that there’s already a shortlist of actors it’s been narrowed down to:

Miles Teller

Ansel Elgort

Dave Franco

Jack Reynor

Scott Eastwood

Logan Lerman

Emory Cohen

Blake Jenner

We’ve heard these names linked to the project before, having been mentioned circling the part and auditioning so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see them on the shortlist.  According to the report, LFL head honcho Kathleen Kennedy and the directors are expected to make a decision in the next couple weeks.

With the movie not slated to hit until 2018 it seems odd that they’d lock in an actor so soon.  Well, according to Variety’s sources, it sounds like the new Han Solo could have a cameo in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.  It’d be an interesting connection to the other movies, while giving audiences a quick taste of what’s to come with their new, younger, Han Solo for the future.

Variety has a solid track record, so there’s a good chance this ends up happening, though, for the moment, it’s all technically a rumor.  What do you guys think?  Which of these actors would you MOST like to see snag the role of Han Solo?
