Batman on Film reported recently that principle shoting for The Batman will be pushed back from Spring to Summer, making the hoped for summer 2018 release date for The Batman less likely. And now that Oscar winner Ben Affleck is officially stepping out of the director’s chair for his solo Batman movie, we have to wonder what the mood is at DC behind-the-scenes right now.
If Batman on Fillm is correct, the mood in DC and the WB is not good. They claim that both the upcoming Justice League and Wonder Woman are “a mess”, and that Affleck is trying to distance himself from the DCEU as much as possible.
Keep in mind the Batman on Film isn’t always the most reliable source, and they haven’t named any specific sources for their claims of problems inside the DCEU. So take this with a huge grain of salt.
Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes)–who is rumored to be on the short list to replace Affleck–may find himself inheriting a troubled production, if he ends up helming this. Whoever steps in as the new director has a lot of responsibility. Batman has always been DC’s most surefire moneymaker, so DC can’t afford to get this one wrong.
Do you think that this move by Affleck is a sign that there is big trouble inside the DCEU, or is it just an artistic choice by Affleck?
