TMP Reviews: Tom and Jerry Fur Flying Adventures Volume 1 on DVD

Here’s the official break-down from WB:

They’re at it again – hilariously – in a new and nutty 14-cartoon collection! In this corner, a perturbed pussycat. In the other corner, a mischievous mouse. Let the comedic mayhem begin with this menagerie of 14 fur-flying dust-ups. The tussling twosome travel through time (Guided Mouse-ille), to Europe (Neapolitan Mouse) and into space (O-Solar-Meow). And it’s two against one when Tom’s scaredy-cat cousin George comes to town in Timid Tabby. But Jerry comes out on top time and again in Pet Peeve, That’s My Mommy and Robin Hoodwinked. This collection’s classic cartoons starring your family’s longstanding favorite cat and mouse duo again prove that as their rivalry is neverending, so are the joy and the laughs they spark!

It’s freaking Tom and Jerry!  What’s not to love about it?  Honestly, I’m really digging this collection they have on the DVD, but I think I’m a little biased on it.  They managed to include a few of my all time favorite Tom and Jerry episodes into the one disc.

The transfer is very good on these DVDs and is about as good quality as you’ll find on these older cartoons.  A lot of the charm here is the nostalgia factor, and there is plenty of it.  Anytime you can find these older cartoons on DVD it’s a good thing.

Tom and Jerry

It’s short.  It’s only about an hour long, and with 14 episodes.  While that’s quite a bit of Tom and Jerry, it only made me long to have some sort of full collection.  There aren’t any extras to speak of on this set, so it’s pretty much just a Tom and Jerry fun fest!

It’s Tom and Jerry….It’s hard to deny that that alone is pretty cool to have on DVD.  If you’re like myself and have a youngster, it’s a great opportunity to share something from your childhood with them.  Sadly it’s just not as comprehensive as you’d want (but hey, it’s Volume 1, so there’s the promise of more to come), but for only $10 there is very little to complain about.

Tom and Jerry Fur Flying Adventures on DVD gets a 9 out of 10.

If you have a family or just feeling nostalgic this DVD is a must-buy.  And for only $10, it’s hard to go wrong with it.  Tom and Jerry is out on DVD right now and available at the Warner Bros Shop.
