It’s that time of year again when the weather gets cold, and the Christmas decorating/shopping has begun. If you have movie lovers, gamers, or nerds in general, on your shopping list the Cinelinx team is here to help you find the perfect gift with our annual gift guides.

To kick things offer, we’re looking at gifts related to movies and television. If you need MORE ideas, be sure to hit up our Geek Pick of the Week choices for some great items as well. Now, let’s get to it!

Great Movie Gifts You Can’t Go Wrong With:

The Cinelinx Game – Of COURSE this is the perfect gift for movie lovers. With our core set once again in stock, along with a handful of expansions and an all new booster pack, there’s a lot of card game to love.

The Daniel Craig Collection 4K – All the Daniel Craig Bond movies in one set.

The Simpson Season 1-20 DVD Set – Super Limited Edition brings together the series in a massive set.

The Shining 4K – The classic horror film got a 4K upgrade this year and is definitely worth grabbing.

The amount of movie/TV related gifts this year are almost overwhelming. On top of a slew of blu-rays/4K discs to pick up or stuff in some stockings, there are some really great tie-in materials that would make stellar gifts as well. I’m going to try and highlight both for my wishlist this year:

Batman Beyond Complete Series Blu-Ray – Last year around this time, fans were treated to an impressive blu-ray set for the original Batman Animated Series. This year, we’re finally getting an upgrade on the Batman Beyond series. This one was always among my favorites, even as I grew older, and there are plenty of fans who’d love to see this under the tree.

Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films – Criterion’s massive new blu-ray set celebrates the history of Godzilla. It brings together all of his early monster adventures (through 1975) in the absolute best quality possible. Any fan of Godzilla, or classic movies, have likely been drooling over this already.

LEGO Batman (1989) Batmobile – This thing is just all sorts of amazing. Easily one of the best designed Batmobiles, having this massive LEGO set would be a dream come true for movie/comic fans. I may have to “gift” this one to myself!

LEGO Star Wars – Star Destroyer – This is definitely on the expensive side, but there’s no denying how absolutely incredible this LEGO set is. Revealed just this past September, this is a must have for pretty much any Star Wars fan.

Jurassic World 5-Movie 4K Collection – Launched in September, the entire Jurassic Park franchise has come together in a single set in glorious 4K Ultra HD. If you haven’t already made the upgrade on these, this is an excellent way to do it all at once!

Disney+ – Movies, series’, everything you could need in one place. Disney+ is a great gift to give to any Nerd. All of our childhoods and new age Disney all wrapped up in one easy to watch app!

The Infinity Saga – Not every MCU movie will be found on Disney+. For any collector, The Infinity Saga Box Set is a must have. All 23 MCU in 4K UHD and Blu-ray, with brand new sleeves for each film. Never-before-seen deleted scenes, extended takes, and more that has been sitting in Marvel’s vault this whole time in a 24th disc. It is a little on the expensive side, $550 expensive, but still something fans will want to track down.

I agree with Jordan in that an amazing amount of awesome movies came out this year, and it’s nearly impossible to choose a few. Nevertheless, I am going to try.

Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films – The 1000th entry in the Criterion Collection is a MUST OWN for any fan of kaiju films. Trust me when I say the price tag is worth every penny. And, if you pick it up before the end of November, you can get the set for half off at Barnes and Noble!

Midsommar – I cannot stress this enough: You need to buy a copy of Midsommar and watch it. The film is that good and you will not be the same when it is over.

Alita: Battle Angel – Don’t let the mixed reviews fool you, Alita Battle Angel was a fantastic movie and one you should definitely pick up.

Fast and Furious 8 Movie Collection – I’m honestly not sure how new this set is, but if you’d like to pick up all of the main-line Fast and Furious films in one fell swoop, this is the set for you (on a related note, you should also pick up Hobbs & Shaw).

I feel like compared with years past, there are fewer special editions and new home video releases this holiday season for fans of classic film. Still, I was able to find some picks which even the pickiest movie-lover should be able to enjoy:

War and Peace – The Criterion Collection – We can always count on Criterion for interesting releases of beloved films, but this one from earlier this year is especially interesting because not only is it a remaster of typical Criterion quality, it is of one of the greatest unseen films. War and Peace may be the most ambitious, expensive, and fitting adaptations of classic literature ever made. This release finally allows people to rediscover it.

Apocalypse Now – The Final Cut – This year marks the 40th anniversary of one of the best war movies ever made, Apocalypse Now. This 4k Restoration brings brilliant sound and picture, but also a new cut of the film never seen before, in addition to a slew of special features.

LEGO – Tron Legacy Light Cycles – Who doesn’t like LEGO and Tron light cycles? This one is a win for kids (and adults) of all ages. You can even get this kit (sold separately), to make them light up for display.

Fast & Furious: 8 Movie Collection I have to agree with Becky on this one.  I’ve been hooked since the first installment.  I can’t help myself!  In fact, I didn’t even mind the spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw.

Disney+  Words cannot express how giddy this product launch has made me!  It has something for everyone, whether it’s the kids in your life or adults reliving their childhood.

JUSTIN (The Casual Cinecast)

The Godzilla Show-Era Films (1954-1975) – Several others have mentioned this before but it’s worth reinforcing that this box set is a beast and one of the more impressive Godzilla collections ever assembled. Criterion Collection always puts out top quality restorations, transfers and special features so this is a must-have for any Godzilla or film nerd in your circle. Bonus: This won’t go out of date like the Marvel Box Sets or other recent movie box sets have newer films added to them!

Game of Thrones Season 8 Blu Ray – No box set gift this year is better suited to keep your fireplace burning bright this holiday season. Feel the warmth and smell the burning plastic as you toss 2019’s most expensive firewood into your fireplace where it belongs.

(Full Disclosure: I’m just kidding. I haven’t even seen it, but boy did people get angry about the final season of GoT.)

1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die (2019 Edition) – The latest edition of this book is a must have for all movie lovers. Sure to provide even the most avid film watcher with plenty of unseen classics and gems to seek out and watch. Every film contains an essay of varying size on exactly why each film is a “Must-See” so even when you watch a film and just don’t get why it’s in the book, they explain it right there in black and white for you.

Criterion Channel Subscription – Last but not least, gift the hardcore cinephile in your circle a subscription to the Criterion Channel. It’s the new streaming service from the Criterion Collection that dropped this year and it is incredible. Excellent streaming quality, top-notch special features and an eclectic rotation of classic, underseen and important films makes this a perfect, and unique, gift for your film loving son/father/sister/aunt/roommate/husband/wife/accountant/physician/landlord/etc.

Disney+ – I’m with BC on this, Disney+ has a huge library of Disney, Fox, and National Geographic shows and films. Though there are a few things missing from their line-up it is a must have for any anyone, not just families.

Game of Thrones: The Complete Series Collector’s Edition – Yes, season 1 through 8. Yes, even the “bad” season. GIMMIE IT!
