A month or so ago, it was announced at the New York Film Festival that Arrested Development would be returning for a brand new season as a lead in to the long awaited movie. Not much details were known at the times, but we can now confirm two things at least; the show is returning in 2013, and Netflix will be airing it.
Variety was the first to break the news. The other contender, Showtime, seemed to have lost the bidding war (which is cool in my book). The actual logistics are up in the air (episode number, cast, writers, etc.) but the very fact that the show’s return is more than a pipe dream is good enough news in my book! Producers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard (a.k.a “The Narrator”) release the following statement about the show’s return:
Bringing a series back from cancellation almost never happens, but then, ‘Arrested’ always was about as unconventional as they get, so it seems totally appropriate that this show that broke the mold is smashing it to pieces once again.
So there you have it. Will this be enough for you to keep your Netflix subscription or, for those who have already cancelled it, bring it back?
