New Bumblebee Trailer Reveals More Story and Classic Transformer Action

I’m easily one of the first to tell you, I haven’t really been looking forward to Bumblebee. The last few Transformers films have burned me out (despite cool ideas and enjoying the first couple), and considering how much history was explored in the recent films, a prequel held little interest for me. Despite all that, however, there’s a lot of things I’m liking in this Bumblebee trailer.

The first thing most Transformers fans are going to gush about are the G1 style designs, looking pulled straight out of the cartoon. It’s really neat to see, and I’m digging what they’re doing with the story. Even though I’m still not convinced about the need for a prequel, this trailer has me excited to see more. This may be exactly what the Transformers franchise has needed.

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
