New Planet of the Apes Movie In Development With Wes Ball

The iconic science fiction franchise, Planet of the Apes, is coming back with a new film in development with Wes Ball at the helm.

When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox many fans wondered what would happen with Fox’s stable of non-comic related franchises like Alien, Predator, and Planet of the Apes. Despite an incredibly successful reboot with Rise, Dawn, and War for the Planet of the Apes, some of us fans worried the franchise would once again go dormant.

Thankfully that doesn’t seem to be the case! Disney/Fox are developing a brand new Planet of the Apes film and have brought on Wes Ball to direct. Ball most recently directed the Maze Runner trilogy, and even posted a cheeky Apes reference on his Twitter following the initial report from The Hollywood Reporter.

Sadly, there’s not much else to go on at this point. There’s no word on if this will be another reboot of sorts, or a continuation of the previous trilogy. Personally, I’m hoping to see what comes next. War for the Planet of the Apes left off with Caesar seeing his clan to safety and leading us closer to the state of things we witnessed in the original films.

Who knows, but I’m certainly excited to see this franchise continue! What do you hope to see out of the next Planet of the Apes film?
