Despite feeling mostly “meh” about Thor in the MCU, I can’t deny the hype I’m feeling for Ragnarok. The first trailer blew me away and bringing in Taika Waititi as a director seems to be exactly what was needed to make the God of Thunder engaging once more. Marvel’s SDCC panel has given us more information on the film along with a gorgeous new trailer:
There’s a lot to unpack here, but the panel itself gave out some great information. For one, Hulk hasn’t been in Bruce Banner form for more than 2 years. He’s enjoying life for the first time as a galdiator and has no desire to go back. As teased in the last Thor film, Loki has been sitting the Asgardian throne, pretending to be Odin and his role in the film is still kind of mysterious. Also, the film is making Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster and The Collector (from Guardians of the Galaxy) brothers. It’s a small, but neat connection to the larger cosmic side of the Marvel universe.
All in all, this film looks set to unleash a lot of awesome later this year and be another great step towards Infinity Wars. What do you think of the new trailer?
In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!
Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
