Well, that was certainly keeping with the original spirit of Alien. The solo creature hunting and killing members of an intrepid band of explorers, yup, that’s my favorite series that terrifies me. Now seeing that ring ship once again bringing some sort of terrible screaming horror yet no one seems to know to stay away from these damn things yet.
Seriously didn’t you get that old school feel from this? Finally I can stop yelling at Ridley Scott every time I see him saying “HEY! Where’s my new Alien movie punk?!” Which is hardly ever to be honest. The CGI looks fantastic on the xenomorph and I’m glad they didn’t wait to show it to us in the trailer. I’m terrified, these things scared the crap out of me as a kid.
Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien: Covenant hits theaters on May 19, 2017.
