As I stated in my Captain America trailer write up, I love how silly anticipation for trailers is. More and more, studios are creating “events” surrounding the release of trailers, be it Captain America‘s ET previews or Rise of the Apes’ Facebook events. Whatever happend to just attaching trailers to a random movie and letting the audience discover it themselves? Now we’re teasing previews? Seems pretty ridiculous to me.
Still, I want to know when these trailers are coming out as soon as I can, so every comment I made in my last paragraph is invalid. The movies in question, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, are the two movies I’d put my money on grossing the highest this summer. One is the finale of the most succesful franchise ever, and the other is Transformers. You can bet audiences will flock the cinemas to catch those two films.
So with films as big as these, it’s no surprise every little marketing move is turned into an event. First up is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which will have it’s trailer premiere during a Wednesday showing of Happy Gilmore on ABC Family (how festive). The trailer will “give fans a glimpse at the epic finale of the “Harry Potter™” film series, including moments from such scenes as Harry, Ron and Hermione escaping from Gringotts bank, the Room of Requirement fire storm, Mrs. Weasley taking on Bellatrix Lestrange, and Harry and Voldemort’s last stand.” The trailer will be up online shortly after its TV premiere.
The Transformers trailer, on the other hand, is going the exact opposite route. It will first premiere Thursday at 7 PM EST on Apple.com (according to Screen Rant). It will then be attached to screenings of Fast Five throughout the weekend. The trailer will run approximately 2 and a half minutes long. Rest assured, TMP will have both trailers up once they become available online.
