While Apocalypse made a quick appearance at the end credits for Days of Future Past, and we knew he’d be the central villain in the next film (he’s the damn title afterall!), many have been wondering who would be cast as the villain in the upcoming film. Today, Oscar Isaac has finalized his deal to portray the iconic X-Men badguy in the next film which is set to hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
Casting has been underway for the project for a little bit, with director Bryan Singer expected to begin production early in 2015. The plot is still unknown at this time, but we know it’ll feature Apocalypse, an ancient mutant whose powers have essentially made him a god, terrorizing the mutants we all know and love. The film will focus on the younger iterations of the characters, and reportedly will feature new versions of Jean Grey and Cyclops.
Isaac is a great casting choice and is obviously becoming a hot topic. With a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and now jumping into the popular comic book franchise, he’s well on his way to showing up in all the things you care about.
