Earlier today, Paramount Senior Vice President Edward Ryan met with attendees to announce their latest projects for 2015 and 2016. While Transformers: Age of Extinction rolls into theaters next Friday, plans are underway for a fifth installment to the movie franchise to roll in 2016 as opposed to 2017. Some other projects of note include Terminator: Genesis with the former governor himself, the third Star Trek movie from the reboot franchise, another Mission Impossible movie with Tom Cruise, and even Spongebob himself is returning to the big screen next year.
While Paramount appears heavily invested with tried and true franchises, there were a couple of head-scratchers in the pile. On the list includes another sequel to the often panned and high-unrelatable GI:Joe franchise. You know, the one that has zero in common with the classic cartoon pre-Serpentor? Eddie Murphy appears to be donning his trademark Detroit Lions jacket one more time in Beverly Hills Cop 4, and while seeing this in theaters was a fun guilty pleasure trip, I didn’t imagine it would generate enough revenue to invest in a sequel. That’s right, look for Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters II.
So let us know, do you think any of these titles still hold appeal factor?
