Paramount Pictures is doing everything in its power to get back to its glory days. Part of that restoration project was to bring in former 20th Century Fox Chairman Jim Gianopulos (fellow Greek) to be the CEO of the struggling studio. During a new expose by THR, Gianopulos confirmed that one of the better directors in recent memory would be taking that reigns of the World War Z sequel, David Fincher.
What’s the status of the World War Z sequel?
We’re in advanced development.
With David Fincher directing?
Yes. And Brad Pitt.
With this news, Fincher will reunite with Brad Pitt after working on several successful films together like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Se7en, and Fight Club. Paramount hopes that the experience they have with each other and Fincher’s recent success at adapting book to movie (Gone Girl) will be enough magic to jumpstart the World War Z franchise, after receiving less-than-kind reviews with the first film.
As of now there is no official date for World War Z 2, but the announcement of David Fincher and the return of Brad Pitt should be enough to, at least, intrigue moviegoers.
