Paramount Sets New Dates for Top Gun: Maverick and A Quiet Place 2

Tom Cruise plays Capt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick from Paramount Pictures, Skydance and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

As the delays continue, Paramount Pictures has given some of their films new date, including giving A Quiet Place Part II a September release. There’s no telling when movie theaters will be opening up and just about every studio has made the decision to pull their films from the upcoming release schedule. Paramount was among the first to do so, removing A Quiet Place Part II from it’s March slot, and now their big Summer release, Top Gun: Maverick, has been moved as well.

Today, however, they actually have some NEW dates to give out:

THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE ON THE RUN, previously scheduled for May 22, 2020 (wide), is now July 31, 2020 (wide).

A QUIET PLACE PART II, previously UNSET, is now September 4, 2020 (wide).

TOP GUN MAVERICK, previously scheduled for June 24, 2020 (wide), is now Wednesday, December 23, 2020 (wide).

THE TOMORROW WAR, previously scheduled for December 25, 2020 (wide), is now UNSET.

Earlier this week, Sony moved nearly everything to next year, so it’s nice to see some optimism here with Paramount still wanting to get these films (except for Tomorrow War) out this year.

From the looks of things, studios will ultimately have to call the Summer season a wash, so I’ll be interested to see where some of the other big delayed films end up. Let’s just hope that the worst of this pandemic is behind us and it’s safe to go to the theaters again this year.
