Jackson will be attending SDCC this Saturday and will be part of a “star-studded Hobbit panel” according to USA Today. Screenwriter Philippa Boyens was on hand to talk about the intense ending regarding the final chapter of the Hobbit.
“They think of this little children’s book. The rest of the story needs to be told, and it’s pretty intense stuff,“ he says.
The final film is said to be darker then any previous Tolkien-based movie directed by Jackson. Besides Smaug’s inevitable attack on Laketown, you have the five armies in a battle that is said to rival Return of the King.
The movie is scheduled for release December 17, 2014.
