It’s been a while since we’ve seen (or even heard) anything regarding Warner Bros. new King Arthur movie. The film was originally supposed to land last year, but was delayed to February. Then it was hit with ANOTHER delay until May of this year. As such, the marketing has been wonky and you’d be forgiven if you’d entirely forgot about it. Today brings a new trailer to remind you it’s coming:
There’s a big part of me that wants to be excited for this movie…A Really big part. I love the King Arthur story and enjoy Guy Ritchie’s filmmaking style. Sadly, however, the trailers we’ve seen for the film have done little to pique my interest. I’m having a hard time getting invested. Part of it could be my lack of interest in Charlie Hunnam, while another part is the tonal weirdness in the trailer. What do you guys think?
Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword hits theaters on May 12, 2017.
