Last year, New Line Cinema unveiled their retooled and rebooted IT film, based on the iconic Stephen King novel. The reception was a positive one as the new, creepier film generated $700+ million worldwide ($327+ mil domestic). That, and the fact that there is more to the story, was enough to convince NLC to tell the second part of the story. Shooting for the sequel, titled IT: CHAPTER 2, began in Toronto, Canada today!
IT: CHAPTER 2 continues to focus on the group of kids we came to know in the first film, the Losers. Now all grown up, the anniversary of their first encounter with Pennywise the Clown (Bill Skarsgard) approaches. The next chapter follows them on their quest to return to Derry, Maine with sights on ending “it” once and for all.
Since the first one released, New Line Cinema has been hard at work, trying to find the adult version of the rag-tag group. They ended up with a boon of talent in James McAvoy as Bill, Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain as Beverly, Bill Hader as Richie, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, Jay Ryan as Ben, James Ransone as Eddie, and Andy Bean as Stanley. Along with the adults features the reprisal of the young actors that made the first IT film extremely successful, Jaeden Lieberher as Bill, Wyatt Oleff as Stanley, Sophia Lillis as Beverly, Finn Wolfhard as Richie, Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben, Chosen Jacobs as Mike, and Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie. Of course, an IT sequel wouldn’t be complete without the star, Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise.

Andy Muschietti returns to direct the sequel, using a screenplay from Gary Dauberman, the writer of the first IT film. Producers are Barbara Muschietti, Dan Lin and Roy Lee, with Executive Producing titles going to Marty Ewing, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg.
IT: CHAPTER 2 is set to release September 6, 2019!
