With Sir Ridley Scott talking about doing two more Prometheus sequels and having just announced a new Alien-themed title for his upcoming movie, many have wondered if this was an attempt to push Neill Blomkamp’s Alien movie out of the way. After all, we have heard that Alien: Paradise Lost moving forward was the reason Alien 5 (who KNOWS what it’ll be called now) got a delay.
If you were looking forward to seeing both of these films, then you have no reason to fear. Empire asked Ridley Scott directly about Alien 5 and whether or not it was being pushed out. Scott’s answer should put to bed all those rumors:
“I’m producing it. The design is for it to go out next, after this. This will go out first. It’s more associated with Ripley, it’s a completely different angle, it’s more of a sequel. I’m coming in from the back end.”
So there you have it. Confirmation that not only is Alien 5 going to come up next after Paradise Lost (we won’t have to wait for more sequels first), but also that they do in fact have an overall plan for the Alien franchise as it is now. Frankly, I’m glad to see that there is a plan of some sort, and that the films will have some connections between them in their own way. More Alien movies isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and after seeing The Martian, I can’t wait to see what Scott has in store for Paradise Lost.
