If you’re a fan of Samuel Jackson’s Nick Fury character, be sure to get your fix in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, because you may not see much of him after that. He won’t be seen again until 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, and even then, he’ll only have a small role. In an interview with Yahoo! Movies UK, Jackson reveals that his role will be very limited in the upcoming Avengers sequel, because the film’s main focus will be on the Avengers themselves.
Jackson says, “I’m just kind of passing by there, you know. I’m not doing so much, I don’t think. Because, it’s another one of those ‘people who have powers fighting people who have powers’. That’s why I didn’t get to New York in The Avengers. There’s not a lot I could do except shoot a gun.”
Jackson is quickly running through the films on his nine-picture deal with Marvel & Disney. The Avengers sequel will mark the 7th film of his contract, with only two more remaining after that. As things stand, the third Captain America film and the third Avengers film will be the last two projects he does as Nick Fury. It’s always possible that the contract could be renegotiated for more movies. Also, he could make another appearance in Agents of SHIELD. Nothing is certain yet.
Jackson says, “I just know that the Marvel Universe is there, that there are things going on, and that I have three pictures left on my nine-picture deal. That’s all I know.”
