SDCC 2018 – Long Live the King in the First Trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Comic-Con is in full swing, with announcements coming in hot and heavy, but now it’s time for the King to shine. Today, Warner Bros revealed the first trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The highly anticipated sequel to the 2014 reboot will eventually lead to his crossover showdown with the new King Kong (introduced in Kong: Skull Island), but that doesn’t mean they’re skimping on the action this time around. With Godzilla having to face down his greatest foes, Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah he’s in for the fight of a lifetime:

With an intro to our new human characters and some teasing glimpse of the monster action to come, there’s a lot to unpack in this first trailer. We’ll be diving into more, but as SDCC is still going hard, we wanted to make sure we had this trailer up for you guys as soon as possible.

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will arrive in theaters on May 31, 2019.

BC’s Report from Hall H:

Godzilla King Of The monsters in next. Millie Bobbie Brown, Vera Farmiga, lil Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), Thomas Middleditch, and Director Michael Dougherty are here.

O’shea has been a diehard Zilla fan since being a kid. And was insanely excited to get into this roll. Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah, and a few others are in the film. Eleven (MBB) days she had neck problems from looking up whole filming cause the scale of these monsters are huge. Vera says Monarch’s mission in this film is not so secretive anymore. It is their mission to preserve these creatures and try to find a way to coexist.

Looks like we have all a trailer for Godzilla King Of the Monsters

Awesome trailer. Looks much brighter then the original film. Great shots of Mothra, a lot of Rodan, and King Ghidorah. Zilla is a beast.

Bear McCreary the composer will introduce classic themes!
