SDCC 2018 – The Throne of Atlantis is Up For Grabs in the First Aquaman Trailer

James Wan has been teasing Aquaman‘s presence at SDCC this year for a little while now, along with new images and a poster earlier this week. Now, comic book fans and movie lovers are getting a proper first look at the film thanks to a trailer shown during WB‘s Hall H panel:

While many are still reeling from Justice League (where it seemed both critics and many fans weren’t thrilled), everything about Aquaman so far looks impressive. James Wan has a great filmography behind him as well, and it seems like this standalone film will be exactly what the DCEU needs.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman”, starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime — one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be … a king.

Aquaman hits theaters on December 21, 2018.

BC’s Hall H Report:

Aquaman is up next. Mamoa is a damn rockstar.

Mamoa says he has the giggle effect with this movie. He’s so proud and the cast is amazing and he absolutely loves it. Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and James Wan are here.

Wan says this film plays more like a scifi fantasy film, more then a traditional superhero film. Speaking on the challenge of an underwater film, Yahya couldn’t swim so he was kinda afraid going into filming. He taught himself how to swim after he got the role. And he never had to actually swim in the film. Kidman said, it was her first comic con, she loved a scene she was laying on a rock and it was just pummeling rain storm waves pelting her. Trailer is incredible! Really showcasing the brighter more fun feel that DC is building Atlantis is beautiful. This looks incredible, I think DC is now on the right path. And Black Manta! Looks super dope!

Hall H exclusive footage. Awesome footage, with a lot of great action scenes, with Black Manta and Mera and Aquaman, which finished with a look at Mamoa in classic green and gold
