The story of La Llorona, or the Weeping Woman, is a tragic one. In a fit of jealous rage, she drowned her children in a churning river. Immediately feeling remorseful for what she had done, she jumped in the river after them, only to get swept up herself and ending her life. However, she wasn’t yet at peace. Stuck between Heaven and Hell, the specter known as La Llorona now spends eternity going after other people’s children, in an effort to replace the ones she lost. Once you’re caught in her curse, it cannot be broken.

Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. The Curse of La Llorona, directed by Michael Chaves, hits theaters April 19, 2019 starring Linda Cardellini , Raymond Cruz , Patricia Velasquez, Marisol Ramirez, Sean Patrick Thomas, Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen, and newcomer Roman Christou. It’s produced by James Wan, Gary Dauberman and Emile Gladstone.
