Spider-Man reboot is ‘Amazing’ and the full suit appears online

First, I have to say that the title is perfect.  Sony is calling it, The Amazing Spider-Man.  This is the title I’ve been hoping for all along.  The Amazing Spider-Man comes from the comic line of the same name which is the first and longest lasting Spider-Man line.  Amazing is where the character got his start, and where fans first fell in love with him.

Amazing Spider Man

The name holds a strong attachment for fans, so capitalizing on that is a very good move for Sony.  Anyway, here’s the press release:

CULVER CITY, Calif., Feb. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Columbia Pictures announced today that the title of the next Spider-Man film will be The Amazing Spider-Man.

The studio simultaneously released a photo of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, the first shot of Garfield in the famous full mask and suit.

The film, which is now in production and is being shot entirely in 3D, will be released on July 3, 2012. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the Marvel Entertainment production for Columbia Pictures. The executive producers are Stan Lee, Kevin Feige, and Michael Grillo. The film’s official website is http://www.TheAmazingSpiderMan-movie.com.

So what’s this picture that they speak of?  Well let me show this off for you.

That’s pretty slick looking.  I’m totally digging the look of the costume, and the mask seems to fit perfectly (at least it looks way better than from the leaked pictures we’ve been getting).  The pose, the web-shooters, the title; all of these things exude the classic feel of Spider-Man and is giving me a lot of hope for this movie.  While I was never happy about this reboot happening, I must say that I’m finding myself more and more excited by it all the time.  Let’s just hope the studios can deliver.

Be sure to tell us what you think of the new title, and the full costume (if it’s not clear enough, be sure to click on it for a large version).
