While we wait with bated breath for Rian Johnson‘s Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi to come out this December, Episode IX Director Colin Trevorrow has already begun working on the finale of this trilogy. Specifically, the script. As it turns out, the script he and his writing partner, Derek Connolly, have put together may have hit a snag, according to a report by THR.
Jack Thorne has been brought in to provide a “fresh set of eyes” and make rewrites to the script Connolly and Trevorrow wrote. Thorne is an English writer responsible for penning and co-creating several TV shows like National Treasure, The Last Panthers, The Fades, along with several TV movies, and the upcoming Julia Roberts film Wonder.
It’s unclear how much he’ll have to rewrite, but the thing Star Wars fans need to understand is that it’s too early to freak out about Episode IX. Several quality films go through rewrites before the filming process even begins, including Star Wars. One should only get nervous if the rewrites happen DURING the film process.
Star Wars Episode IX is scheduled to release May 24, 2019.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi releases December 15, 2017.
