I had the supreme honor this weekend to have had a place secured on the Red Carpet for the opening of Texas Frightmare Weekend 2011. The opportunity to meet and greet some of the biggest names in cinema and horror was amazing as the photos below will show.
Each of them a legend, the stars came out to celebrate not only the genre they love so dearly, but the genre some of them helped to create.
A gentleman and a scholar, iconic German actor Dieter Laser was friendly and fun to hang out with despite what The Human Centipede made you think of him.
Joining Dieter Laser, the man behind the sickness that was The Human Centipede, rock star director Tom Six was an awesome addition to the Red Carpet.
He made us laugh, cry, and piss our pants as the nefarious Captain Spaulding, veteran character actor Sid Haig arrived to the joy of all fans of The Devil’s Rejects.
A paragon of industry knowledge and experience, Angus Scrimm, who is as funny and friendly as he was terrifying and insane as The Tall Man in Phantasm.
It would appear that The Tall Man didn’t get him in the end, because Michael “Boyyyyy” Baldwin, hero of the Phantasm films, was right behind his horrific costar.
Hide the piano wire! Eihi Shiina of Audition and director Yoshihiro Nishimura made their first U.S. convention appearance courtesy of Funimation.
Legend of the screen, the immensely talented Malcolm McDowell wasn’t about to let a little thing like a Red Carpet Event spoil his afternoon tea.
He has such sights to show you! The Hellraiser himself who brought Clive Barker’s notorious Pinhead to terrifying life, Doug Bradley.
Scream Queen Jill Shoelen of The Stepfather and other 80’s horror was on hand to sign autographs and celebrate the history of the horror genre.
Brian Austin Green of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, arrived with costars to promote the sequel to the 2009 cult hit Laid to Rest, the ultra violent and gory Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2.
The boys from Rue Morgue, Founder/President Rodrigo Gudiño and Head Artist Gary Pullin were on hand to celebrate the incredible history of the worlds greatest horror themed magazine.
Sean Bridgers, Lucky McKee, and Carlee Baker arrived to promote director/writer McKee’s shocking and brilliant new horror thriller, The Woman.
The legends of the SAW franchise, Cary Elwes, Shawnee Smith, and Costas Mandylor, were on hand to celebrate their monumental successes. Even better, this was Cary and Costas’ first appearance at a horror convention.
Robert Englund, an actor of near mythical status, arrived to the great delight of every attendee. Of course it wasn’t long before he gave us a little peek at the legendary character, Freddy Krueger.
A dear friend and recent costar of mine, the lovely and talented Kitsie Duncan was on hand for Darkrider Studios.
The MacManus Brothers themselves, Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery were on hand to promote The Walking Dead and Sinners and Saints respectively.
At long last, The Boondock Saints, were together again! Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery, and the sage David Della Rocco. Thanks for coming out!
What an amazing experience hanging with some of the biggest and brightest stars in cinema. One thing can be said, every one of them was as friendly and inviting as you could wish for them to be. Let’s hope we get to see them all again and even more come Texas Frightmare Weekend 2012!
