The First Trailer for ‘Django Unchained’ Reveals the Movie Quentin Tarantino Was Born to Make

Yeah, I’m not going to make you wait to watch this one.  Here’s the first teaser trailer for Django Unchained.

So pretty great, huh?  This is a film I (and I’m sure may others) have been looking forward to for months, and I think this trailer delivered on my high expectations.  Christoph Waltz looks fantastic in this, dropping the German accent for a good old fashioned American one.  He does a hell of a job, furthuring proving how talented a guy he is.  Hopefully, he’ll finally get his Oscar nom with Django Unchained. Also of note is Leonardo DiCaprio, who seems to be enjoyably chewing the scenery here as bad guy Calvin Candie.  I enjoyed Jamie Foxx here too, although a tiny part of me still wishes we could have seen Will Smith taking the role.  That would have been amazing for a multitude of reasons.  Whatever the case, this looks like classic Tarantino, and its nice to see him finally getting to make the movie he always seemed like he wanted to make—a Western.  With the classic Tarantino twist, of course.

Here’s the official description for the film:

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.

Django Unchained will hit theaters December 25, 2012.
