The First Trailer for ‘The Hunt’ Promises an Experience Like No Other

Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for The Hunt, a film that feels like a cross between The Purge and The Most Dangerous Game.

Interestingly, the trailer for The Hunt plays out like a commercial advertising a luxury hunting experience. It all feels so normal…right up until the final shot anyway…

The sheer normalcy of the majority of the trailer should be a clue that there’s something seriously wrong with this arrangement (in other words, it’s so perfect that there has to be a catch somewhere). And oh boy, does this one have a doozy. It’s a luxury hunting experience alright, only the 1% could even THINK about hunting people for sport. However,  the picture of that hunting sign at the end makes this feel so normal…maybe this is a dystopia where this is just a thing that happens?

The brief synopsis doesn’t tell us much, but combined with the trailer, it’s enough to give a good idea of how the story will go:

Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don’t know they’ve been chosen – for a very specific purpose – The Hunt.

The Hunt stars Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, Glenn Howerton, Ike Barinholtz, Betty Gilpin,  Amy Madigan, and Hilary Swank, and is directed by Craig Zobel.

The Hunt is scheduled to be released on September 27, 2019.
