The upcoming remake of The Witches, starring Anne Hathaway is skipping theatrical release and will drop on HBO Max in time for Halloween.
After being pulled from the schedule, Warner Bros. has decided to launch The Witches directly onto HBO Max. The remake of the classic film, both of which are based on Roald Dahl’s book, will hit the streaming service on October 22nd. The news was initially reported by THR, which WB confirmed with the reveal of the first poster:
In other parts of the world (where theaters are back open) the film will have a theatrical release starting on October 28th. This is pretty close to the film’s original release date (October 16th), and works out pretty well for all your Halloween watching needs!
Based on Dahl’s 1983 book, The Witches follows a young boy who stumbles upon a secret coven of witches and, with the help of his loving grandmother, vies to stop their evil plan to turn all the world’s children into mice.
