A Live-Action SILK Series Is In The Works At Sony Television

While there had been rumblings of her potentially coming to the big screen, it looks like that for now SILK is going to make her way to the smaller version thanks to an article that broke from Variety.

According to the trade, Sony Pictures Television is currently in the process of developing a live-action series centered on Silk. Lauren Moon is in talks to write. Like Silk, Moon is Korean-American. Her past credits include the Freeform series “Good Trouble” and the Netflix series “Atypical.”

Phil Lord and Chris Miller who brought us Sony’s SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDERVERSE are executive producing under their Lord Miller production banner along with former Sony Pictures Entertainment head Amy Pascal. As of now officially no network or streaming service is currently set to air the show, but sources say Amazon is in talks to acquire the project, along with other potential Marvel series based on characters Sony controls. Sony currently possess the right to the Spider-man based Marvel characters.

Like mentioned earlier SILK was discussed coming to theaters. Back in 2018 Sony Pictures had been reporting as being in the early stages of development on a Silk standalone film. Later that same year, it was also reported that Sony was developing a female-led spinoff of the aforementioned SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDERVERSE that would potentially focus on Silk, Spider-Gwen, and Spider-Woman.

Many people may not know or remember but Silk’s alter ego, Cindy Moon has already made an appearance on the big screen. She was played by Tiffany Espensen in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. However it must be noted that there is no confirmation that Espensen is set to reprise the role.
