He’s considered the worlds most dangerous assassin. Egotistical, and doesn’t like to take any real situation too seriously. And midway through 2016 we got word he would be returning for an 8th, 9th, and 10th season. He is Sterling Malory Archer, better known as just Archer. While we know he will be back, we also now know he is moving to a new network.
Well not exactly. President of program strategy at FX Networks, Chuck Saftler, announced today during the Television Critics Association press tour, that they would shifting Archer Season 8 from FX to FXx. Who knew, the two weren’t the same.
From the look of it, the Network is determined to separate the feel of each of their brands between FX and FXx. While FX continues to offer the more dark and gritty feel to shows like Fargo, Atlanta, and the upcoming X-Men series Legion, FXx seems to be showing the comedic tone. Archer will join You’re the Worst, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Man Seeking Woman.
Adam Reed, show runner for Archer was pretty set on ending the show until recently. When the announcement of new seasons came out Reed was quoted in saying:
I was gonna end it after 8, but then I had sort of a brain explosion of a way that I could do three more seasons and really keep my interest up. So the three seasons that are coming up are gonna be pretty different from what has come before, and they’re gonna be different from each other.
No word yet on the premier for Archer Season 8, but keep checking back here on Cinelinx.Com for the announcement.
