Brian K. Vaughan’s ‘Paper Girls’ Receives Series Order from Amazon Studios

As the streaming industry continues to grow at an exponential rate, the different services are all scrambling to secure the rights to their own exclusive series or films. To this end, Amazon Studios have just secured the rights to Brian K. Vaughan’s graphic novel series Paper Girls and given it a series order.

The adaptation of Paper Girls marks the first project in a deal Vaughan has with Legendary Entertainment. Stephany Folsom, co-writer of Toy Story 4, will be writing the adaptation and will also serve as an executive producer.

The basic plot outline of Paper Girls is as follows:

Paper Girls follows four young girls who, while out delivering papers on the morning after Halloween in 1988, become unwittingly caught in a conflict between warring factions of time-travelers, sending them on an adventure through time that will save the world. As they travel between our present, the past, and the future — they encounter future versions of themselves and now must choose to embrace or reject their fate.

There’s currently no timetable as to when Paper Girls will begin production, but given this series comes from the same mind that created Saga, it’s sure to be worth the wait.
