In the first teaser, we hear multiple voice-overs as the names of books, movies, or characters from his stories are shown on the screen. It ends with a dark map of the North-Eastern US and the words Castle Rock across the screen. It’s pretty much standard fare for a teaser, which is nothing more than “HEY! We’re making a show.” You can check out the 1st teaser HERE.
Well now we have a second teaser and a bit more info on the series, but before we get into all that let’s check out the teaser shown at New York Comic Con:
So, we get our first glimpse of some of the actors who will appear in the series. Melanie Lynskey (Two & a half men), André Holland (Selma, Moonlight), Sissy Spacek (Carrie, Coal Miner’s Daughter), Terry O’Quinn (Lost, 666 Park Ave.), Scott Glenn (Daredevil, The Defenders), Jane Levy (Suburgatory, Evil Dead), and Bill Skarsgård (IT). From what I’m seeing the first season appears to be a story centered around Shawshank Prison. There’s no news if there will be an Andy Dufresne cameo (or any other character from The Shawshank Redemption), but I’m pretty sure the Prison will be involved. Call it a hunch.
J. J. Abrams will serve as executive producer of Castle Rock, along with Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason who also serve as writers. Abrams and King have teamed up with Hulu before to bring us the 2016 time traveler series 11.22.63. If that series is any indication as to what Castle Rock will be like, I can’t wait for this to air!
Production for the series started in July 2017, and the only release date we have right now is 2018.
