Bryan Fuller, the showrunner for the new series, told ShockTillYouDrop that Hannibal would be premiering on NBC April 4th. This means the earlier rumors about it getting a Summer time premiere turned out to be false.
The pilot is directed by David Slade and the series is said to explore the early days of Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and the working relationship he had with FBI agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) before it turned sour.
I’m not exactly sure how to feel about this show. I enjoy the Hannibal Lecter mythos, but at the same time, I feel that his story has been told enough times. I’m not sure what the show can bring to the table that would be “new” and engaging enough for a prolonged series, without the possibility of it changing things up.
I hope I’m wrong and we get something amazing out of this series, but we’ll just have to wait until April to find out! Are you guys planning on watching it?
