It looks like we’ll have two Supermans for the CW‘s next Arrowverse crossover event.
“Crisis On Infinite Earths” will see Supergirl’s Tyler Hoechlin & 2006’s Superman Brandon Routh will both don the iconic cape. More within…
13 years ago, Brandon Routh became something of a cult hero to comic book fans around the world. That’s because he starred as Superman in 2006’s Bryan Singer-led Superman Returns. While the film was a mixed bag for critics and fans, alike, it did give Routh recognition and help skyrocket his acting career.
Since that time, viewers of the highly successful Arrowverse on the CW have been treated to Routh each and every week on Legends of Tomorrow, where he plays Ray Palmer/Atom. Meanwhile, in that same TV universe, DC’s boy scout is now being played by Tyler Hoechlin on Supergirl.
According to a report by Deadline, the latest Arrowverse Crossover event, “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will see Routh at long last reprise his Superman, alongside Hoechlin. The report suggests that neither Superman will cross paths but will instead be portraying their individual Superman in different time frames.
“Crisis on Infinite Earths” promises to be a mega-crossover, as it will unite unite members of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman in a five-episode arc that will find three episodes airing in December and the two concluding installments debuting in January.
No word yet on which Superman will be featured on which episode, but more news is expected to be revealed at SDCC 2019. When that news drops, we’ll have it here.
