It wasn’t all that long ago when Netflix announced that they had intentions to produce a series based on Andrzej Sapkowski‘s The Witcher novels, with Henry Cavill playing the main character, Geralt of Rivia. The novels, made famous by CD Projekt Red‘s video game series, focuses on Geralt of Rivia, a silver-haired monster hunter that journeys across vast lands fighting dangerous beasts and humans. With production getting underway in Hungary, Netflix has debuted the first look of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.

Cavill actually looks really good as Geralt, but I can’t help but miss the beard he has in CD Projekt Red‘s interpretation. Perhaps they’ll add it later or forego it in favor of Cavill’s chiseled good looks. Facial hair aside, Netflix has also released a synopsis for the upcoming The Witcher series.
“Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.”
Netflix’s The Witcher series, starring Henry Cavill, will release at the very least sometime next year.
