HBO Releases the First Teaser for Watchmen

Anyone interested in HBO’s upcoming Watchmen series can now see their best look yet at the series as HBO released a full length teaser earlier today.

The teaser shows glimpses of a world based on, and yet different from that seen in the famous graphic novel.

The teaser shows a world affected by the events of Watchmen and seemingly moving towards the end of the world. A recurring theme is the appearance of what appears to be a cult based on Rorschach, it’s masked members repeating the words “Tick tock” referencing the Doomsday Clock ticking towards midnight and the end of the world that will arrive when the clock strikes.

Watchmen, as said earlier, will not cover the source material directly. Executive producer Damon Lindelof had this to say:

“We have no desire to ‘adapt’ the twelve issues Mr. Moore and Mr. Gibbons created thirty years ago…they will, however, be remixed…Those original twelve issues are our Old Testament. When the New Testament came along it did not erase what came before it. Creation. The Garden of Eden. Abraham and Isaac. The Flood. It all happened. And so it will be with Watchmen. The Comedian died. Dan and Laurie fell in love. Ozymandias saved the world and Dr. Manhattan left it just after blowing Rorschach to pieces in the bitter cold of Antarctica.”

Watchmen is set to premiere in the fall of 2019 on HBO. The series will star Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, and Jeremy Irons as Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias.
