J.A. Bayona to Direct First Two Episodes of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings Series

Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series has been the subject of much interest, even more so after it was revealed that the story would be set in the Second Age of Middle Earth, a period never explored on screen until now. Now we have also learned that J.A. Bayona will be directing the first two episodes of the forthcoming series. Bayona’s previous work includes Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and A Monster Calls, and it will be interesting to see how he interprets the world of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Bayona had this to say about working on Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series:

“J.R.R. Tolkien created one of the most extraordinary and inspiring stories of all time, and as a lifelong fan it is an honor and a joy to join this amazing team…I can’t wait to take audiences around the world to Middle-earth and have them discover the wonders of the Second Age, with a never before seen story.”

Along with directing, Bayona will also serve as an executive producer for the series. Hopefully there will soon be more details to come about this series in the near future.
