Jason Isaacs (who played the Death Eater Lucius Malfoy in all the Harry Potter films) is no stranger to playing a villain. In fact, he’s down right amazing as a bad guy. So the news that released today, thanks to EW, that he’s voicing the new villain in Star Wars Rebels has me very excited. He’s been rumored for the part in the past, and it looks like those have turned out to be true.
“He’s cold, he’s analytical, he doesn’t get angry,” said Lucasfilm Story Group’s Pablo Hidalgo. “We all took care to make sure our villains have real presence and our heroes just can’t walk all over him. This isn’t like cartoons I grew up with in the 80s where you’d have the villain lose every week and yet every week we’d have to believe he’s some sort of threat. When The Inquisitor shows up, it means something significant and it’s a definite challenge for our heroes.”
I’m already excited for this new show and seeing what they have in store for Star Wars going into a new generation. So far, all of their voice-cast choices have seemed very impressive. They’re not holding anything back and it looks like something amazing will come from it. There’s still no premiere date set for the show (perhaps it’ll be revealed at SDCC), but it’ll be landing on Disney XD this Fall.
