Constantine fans you now have permission to rejoice! Constantine is coming back…for one episode in Arrow Season 4. Matt Ryan has been confirmed to reprise his role as the black magic exorcist, John Constantine in the next season of Arrow.
While there is yet to be a date announced for said episode, we do know that it will be entitled “Haunted”. Which could mean any number of things, the most important being, Constantine is back and on Arrow!!! This is what Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim had to say,
“We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow. Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired. The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to ‘Arrow’ and the CW’s DC Universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series.”
Thanks Marc. This comes as exciting news to not only myself but to a rather large fan base who enjoyed NBC’s now-cancelled series. While it may not be the series revival we were all hoping for it is a promising development. Think about it, if one episode spikes in ratings because of one character, you bet the network will take notice and think about putting a show together. Plus, Supernatural has to end someday and what better show to replace it than a better produced Constantine on the CW.
While we wait, though, Matt Ryan, the man himself, was so giddy about the news he himself wanted to confirm it.
Season 4 of Arrow begins on October, 2015. What do you think of the news?
