Kevin Bacon Returns to Tremors for new TV Series!

I have a long history of loving Tremors.  Both my girlfriend and I can’t seem to get enough of it.  While I’ve enjoyed the subsequent straight-to-DVD sequels, and we liked the most recent Tremors 5: Bloodlines release, the original film remains the best.  Truly, any time we see it come on TV, we stop what we’re doing and watch it.

Kevin Bacon only appeared in the first film (though I’m sure the filmmakers tried often to get him back for the sequels), and his absence is sorely missed.  That’s what makes today’s news so damn exciting!  EW broke the news (which has since been confirmed everywhere else), that Kevin Bacon is returning to star and produce a new Tremors television series:

Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions are developing a show based on the 1990 cult favorite about giant killer worms…Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle) has been tapped to write the adaptation.

Bacon will reprise the role of Valentine McKee after 25 years of being away from the series.  The new series will return to the setting of Perfection, where graboids are reeking havoc yet again.  There’s no word yet on which network the show will appear, but apparently “several” are interested in it.

Frankly, I couldn’t be happier.  There’s still potential in this story and with a great team behind it, could be incredibly fun.  Now they just need to bring back Fred Ward so we can see the continued adventures of Val and Earl!  What do you guys make of this Tremors news?
