NBC’s Streaming Service Will Include a New Take on ‘Battlestar Galactica’

Amid a slew of news related to NBC’s recently announced streaming service Peacock, news has come out that the initial lineup will include a new take on the beloved drama Battlestar Galactica.

Very little is known about this new look at the world of Battlestar Galactica, but a few things are known for sure. What we do know is that this new take will be based on the 2004 iteration of the story, and not the 1978 original. Also, and most importantly, it is known that this will not be a remake of the 2004 series either, according to Sam Esmail, who will be in charge of this new series:

“BSG fans (he tweeted), this will NOT be a remake of the amazing series @RonDMoore launched because … why mess with perfection? Instead, we’ll explore a new story within the mythology while staying true to the spirit of Battlestar. So say we all!”

While a writer for this new series has not yet been hired, it is known that the series will be available starting in spring 2020 when NBC’s streaming service Peacock becomes available.
