Netflix Reportedly Greenlights Development of ‘Conan the Barbarian’ Live-Action TV Series

Conan the Barbarian is about to be the next Netflix Original Series. That’s according to Deadline who has reported that Netflix has officially greenlit production on a live-action Conan the Barbarian series.

This series is the first in an exclusive deal with Netflix and Conan Properties International, owned by Cabinet Entertainment. The deal gives Netflix rights to all of the Conan literary works by Robert E. Howard. With it, the streaming giant is allowed to adapt content for TV and film, both live-action and animated.

The Conan the Barbarian series is said to be in very early stages, as of this writing. Netflix is currently seeking writers and showrunners to plan and write the series. So, we’re probably looking at 2022 as the earliest the series would hit the streaming service. Although, that’s purely speculation.

Having a Conan the Barbarian series falls right in line with Netflix‘s current memorandum of acquiring and adapting recognizable IPs, which has seemed to work pretty well in their favor. They found great success with The Witcher series and they’re currently working on creating content for Roald Dahl’s novels, The Chronicles of Narnia books, and comics publisher Millarworld.

As more news regarding Conan the Barbarian surfaces, we’ll have it here.
