Peter Capaldi Confirms His Departure From Doctor Who After Series 10

It’s a sad, but not unforseen, day Whovians.  Peter Capaldi has officially confirmed he’s leaving Doctor Who after what will have been 3 series, with the long-running British sci-fi series.  The confirmation was made during a special BBC Radio 2 broadcast with Capaldi, where he would casually inform, host, Jo Whiley of his departure.

Take a listen.

The news may come as a shock to many Capaldi/Doctor Who fans, as Capaldi had just seemed to get into his stride.  However, since showrunner Steven Moffat announced his departures, rumors swirled about Capaldi’s eventual goodbye.  Now, the two will make their final goodbyes at the end of the 10th series, with the regeneration occuring in the Christmas Special.

Moffat released a statement upon Capaldi’s announcement.

“For years before I ever imagined being involved in Doctor Who, or had ever met the man, I wanted to work with Peter Capaldi.”

“I could not have imagined that one day we’d be standing on the TARDIS together. Like Peter, I’m facing up to leaving the best job I’ll ever have, but knowing I do so in the company of the best, and kindest and cleverest of men, makes the saddest of endings a little sweeter”

“But hey, it’s a long way from over. Peters’ amazing, fiery, turbulent Doctor is still fighting the good fight, and his greatest adventures are yet to come. Monsters of the universe, be on your guard – Capaldi’s not done with you yet!”

The hunt is now on for the next Doctor and we’ll be here to report all the latest casting news!  Who would you want to play the next Doctor?
