SDCC 2018 – First Trailer for Walking Dead Season 9 and Premiere Date Revealed

Andrew Lincoln is definitely leaving, but AMC’s The Walking Dead is still alive (undead?) and kicking (shuffling?), as is evident from the Season 9 trailer shown during the Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic Con 2018.  The survivors of the “Walker” Outbreak and the Negan/Rick War have now settled and peace is restored, until it all inevitably blows up in their faces!

Also during the panel, Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) addressed the elephant in the room and confirmed his departure from AMC’s The Walking Dead, saying…

“This will be my last season playing the role of Rick Grimes, I love this show, It means everything to me. I love the people who make this show. I’m particularly fond of the people who watch this show.”

Along with this, he added that this was a role of a lifetime for him and that The Walking Dead still has more stories to tell and that, “no one is bigger than the story.”, despite the fan outcry that this would be the end of The Walking Dead.

AMC’s The Walking Dead returns with Season 9 Friday, October 7, 2018 at 9/8c.  Following The Walking Dead will be Talking Dead with interim host Yvette Nicole Brown, who replaces Chris Hardwick.
