Coming off the heels of an incredible debut season, creator Jon Favreau announced that Season 2 of The Mandalorian was in the works, bound for an October 2020 release on Disney+. After wrapping the highly-anticipated sophomore season, it appears that a third is already on the way.
That’s according to a report by Variety that explains that Favreau has been “writing season 3 for a while,” and the art department has been creating concepts for Season 3 “for the past few weeks.”. The report even goes on to say that the production design team began working on The Mandalorian Season 3 on April 20, since they need “such a huge lead time”.
As of this writing, The Mandalorian Season 3 is currently in the pre-production phase. It’s unclear when production would actually begin, given the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, by having wrapped production on Season 2 before the global lockdown began, the Disney+ series seems to be one of the few shows still on schedule.
Still, October can’t come soon enough. The Mandalorian has promised a stellar second season with the end of season 1 revealing Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) in possession of the fabled darksaber. Furthermore, Rosario Dawson is joining season 2 as the beloved character, Ahsoka Tano.
