To mark the official start of production on season four of Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers have released a brief teaser trailer revealing the return of David Harbour.
Season three of Stranger Things ended with, supposedly, the sacrifice of Jim Hopper to protect everyone else. While many assumed this wouldn’t be the end of the character, thanks to a post-credits tease, some weren’t sure. Today, the creators behind the show have set the record straight, thanks to a quick tease of the upcoming season:
Hopper is being held captive in Russia; likely the same location we saw at the end of the previous season. Obviously the tease doesn’t show much other than his return, but it’s exciting nonetheless. Confirming Hopper’s alive this early is a nice way to get ahead of any rumors and (probably) upcoming photos from the set. The Duffer brothers also issued a statement offering some tantalizing clues about what the upcoming season has in store:
“We’re excited to officially confirm that production on ‘Stranger Things 4’ is now underway — and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper! Although it’s not all good news for our ‘American;’ he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human…and other. Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything. Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more. In the meantime, pray for the American.”
Of course, there’s still a lot we don’t know. Like will El get her powers back and, most importantly, WHEN will we get to watch it. Sadly, there’s no release date yet, but it’s nice to know filming is well underway!
