Supergirl’s Television Costume Fully Revealed

Earlier this week, CBS started production on the pilot for Supergirl, a big step forward to seeing the iconic superheroine back in action.  Today, fans get a bigger treat in that they studios have decided to give us our first look at Melissa Benoist in full costume (designed by Colleen Atwood, who also developed suits for The Flash and Arrow)!

Personally, I’m really digging this costume (though some of us here on the site are going back and forth about it), and love how it feels “fresh” while also retaining the iconic and classical appearance that long-time fans of Kara Zor-El have come to expect.  Gone is the bare-midriff and skin exposing costume, and instead we get something that feels more practical and looks sharp.  I don’t think it’s any coincidence either that it also feels a lot like Superman’s outfit from Man of Steel.

Obviously filming is still happening and we likely won’t be seeing Supergirl in action any time soon, but it’s nice to get such an early (official) look at her in costume.  What do you guys think of the new design?  Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
