Babs and Buster Bunny (no relation) are getting a brand new series on HBO Max, bringing the Tiny Toons shenanigans to a new generation.
On top of Animaniacs coming back on Hulu, another classic animated series from that era will be returning as well: Tiny Toons! The new series, Tiny Toons Looniversity, will be coming to HBO Max and retain much of the same premise as the original show:
Babs, Buster Bunny and the rest of the gang follow their comedic ambitions all the way to Acme Looniversity, the esteemed institution of higher hijinx learning, where young dreamers become professional toons. Here they form long-lasting friendships with one another and perfect their cartoony craft while studying under the greatest cartoon characters in history, the Looney Tunes.
I remember loving this series when I was younger. Something about the idea of a new generation of cartoons learning how to be funny from icons like Bugs, Daffy, and Porky really stuck with me. Not to mention it was pretty hilarious to boot. Steven Spielberg and Amblin TV are back producing the series along with Cartoon Network Studios President Sam Register, who had this to say:
“For many kids, Tiny Toons was their introduction to the world of Looney Tunes and, over time, Buster, Babs, Plucky and all the characters grew to be just as beloved by an entirely new generation. The continuation of our great creative partnership with Amblin Television will bring these characters back for fans of all ages to enjoy.”
Considering how impressive the Looney Tunes reboot on HBO Max is, I’m very excited to see what they do with this one.
